heaven on earth

IS st. george. Ever since moving away from home sweet home, my BF and I have referred to this place as paradise. I seriously get goosebumps as I pull into town...thats how much I love it. It is especially nice when the weather is so much more beautiful down there than up here in p-town. We went down this weekend with the bennions and our friend greg and got some R&R. I didn't realize how much I needed the sunshine and red rocks till I was there.
the crack, mini-narrows, whatever you want to call it, on top of the red hill.very tight fit.buddy, claire, greg, and parkthe bennion fam.

life flight

learned all about the life of life-flight nurses this week. very exciting to say the least. the man in this picture was paris, our wonderful paramedic who gave us an inside peak...

Infant Swimming Resource

k so I don't have kids but I will someday and this video is crazy! My older sister told us about it. You have got to watch it. I don't know how many kids drown a year but it is such a preventable tragedy. I just never thought it was possible to be preventable by teaching your baby to swim/float. Really this is amazing. I already want to do this someday when I have a baby. It is pretty expensive and you have to get at least 30 people in your area that want to do it for them to travel where you are but seriously...you need to watch this video. I don't know how to get videos on my blog so you will have to follow this link.

SN-BYU

so it's my second to last semester of nursing school. I am in the ICU's at Intermountain Medical Center for clinical this semester and I am totally loving it. We basically rotate through all the ICU departments there so we get to see the cardiac patients, trauma patients, respiratory patients, nuero patients and the ER. The nurses are so smart and really know what is going on with their patients. I really feel like all my physiology/patho/nursing care is all coming together this semester. I am still totally freaked out by the idea of actually being an RN on my own but I know I will get to the point where I am confident in myself and my knowledge. I am really excited to get there! For now I am totally satisfied signing SN after my name instead of RN. here we are in the basement trying out the ventilator for ourselves. I feel so bad for people that have to be on a ventilator. not only do they have a huge tube down their throat but this machine seriously like power forces air into your lungs. Thankfully we have them though because even though they are miserable, they save lives:)

one hundred pushups

This is kind of random but my friend told me about this so I checked it out and I think I am going to do it. If anyone knows my dad, he usually challenges the kids to a pushup challenge about every get-together. He does them every morning and he always wins. Maybe this way I can actually compete. plus pushups are such a little thing to do that make a difference. plus they are free! Go to hundredpushups.com to get the whole program!

my long lost love

is back...I feel like I have been reunited with an old friend. I love it despite the polar bears and black smoke monsters and time travel. There's a great recap here, where you can also watch the episodes. I have a good feeling about season 5. On a similar note I'm going to see this gal tomorow who is also an old friend but not so lost. She is such a sweetheart and always brings a little fun and friendship to my life.

Smith's Royale

this has been somewhat a point of contention in our marraige. the battle between skim and 1%. I I have to confess that I love skim milk and Parker pretty much hates it....BUT parker's mom found this milk at smiths. It's not just normal smiths skim but Smith's Royale and they don't always have it but it is the perfect compromise. It is skim but a skim that Parker actually likes. isn't compromise great? actually parker is great for drinking skim milk.

Bringing in the New Year!

We spent New Years Eve up at the Bennion's cabin with these great people. We had a great time.gotta love self timer...

On New Years Day we drove up to Jackson Hole with the Mayfields. We ate at Merry Piglets, saw Valkyrie, walked around down town, went snow shoeing, sledding, and of course watched the Utes game! It was a great time to spend time together and hang with jon and errin who we don't get to see very often anymore! Anyways the holidays were great and I am excited to get settled back into real life and school and new years resolutions. I love making resolutions... there is something refreshing and exciting about writing them down and making a plan for accomplishing. So many ways to grow and become better! Good luck to everyone and their goals for 2009!

Happy 1 Year to us!

the sunset for us of course...

Dinner Here...Dessert at home... delicious wedding cake... spoiled kate... He got me flowers like the ones from our wedding...made me a calendar with pictures from the year... and inside the calendar on the month of April was WICKED tickets!!! What a sweetie pie. Completely suprised me again. I have been saying I want to go for months but when I saw the prices, I said nevermind! Luckily Parker got a good deal and we are going in April. Besides the fact that Parker gives great gifts, he is a great husband. I am really the luckiest girl to have him as my husband. This has been the best year of my life because I have spent every day with him! I can't beleive that we have been married a year. I have learned a lot this year about myself and parker and it has gone by so fast. I hope to make our 2nd year of marriage even better.

Christmas with the Davidson's

We had such a great christmas with Parker's family. I think my favorite part was the talent show where I got parker to sing "Hark the Herald.." while i played the violin. I loved it! I wish everyone could have heard it...priceless. We missed the family movie on Christmas Eve because of traffic but met up with everyone for Olive Garden and Temple Square. Parker completely suprised me with this little beauty!! It was the only thing I really asked for but he acted like he wasn't getting it for various reasons and he actually wrapped a different size/weight present and put it under the tree to fool me even more. On Christmas morning he ran to the other room and brought this out! I love it so much! I have already started making some pillow cases for our bed. If anyone has a good sewing pattern or link for any project... I want to do lots with this sewing machine. I already have a list of projects but I want more.

pre-christmas in St. George

Since we spent Christmas in South Jordan with Parker's family, we went down the weekend before Christmas to see my family. It just doesn't feel like Christmas until I see my family, my house decorated, and St. George. My favorite thing we got from my parents were these sleeping bags that I am so excited to use as soon as it gets a little warmer! I love St. George. There was snow on the ground when we got there...but not for too long! I love spending time with my family.

Proposition 8

If you haven't heard much about proposition 8, get informed now. This may be one of the most important moral issues we face in our lifetimes. Learn more here. I obviously can't vote, but we have been asked to get involved in any way we can.

If you want to post videos on your blog, there are instructions on this website if you click on the video.

Boston and NYC

so parker spontaneously bought plane tickets to Boston before he started his new job. we wanted to take a trip before he started and had to get days off to go anywhere. Boston is such a cool city. We stayed with parker's long time friends, brittany and emily lewis, who showed us all around Boston. It was so fun to be with them and have an inside look at the city.we got a tour guide for the Freedom Trail. Definitely worth it! he was great and we saw so much stuff. It was pretty cool to see the place where so many historical events in our country took place.Parker in a street show outside Faniuel hall market place. So hilarious. This guy was juggling knives on top of this pole. I admit I was a little scared for all of our lives. pretty awesome though.
Acorn street... supposedly the most photographed street in...somethingJust the view from Britt's office. Boston Bay with the Lewis girlsthe mansions in Newport, RI. we missed the inside tours but they were pretty spectacular from the outside. this face cracks me up. what a cutiewe got to visit Parker's Italian relatives in Rhode Island. These lovely ladies are Parker's great aunts, Nat and Stella (sisters to his grandpa, who I never got to meet). Italians sure do know how to eat.we hadn't planned on it, but after visiting parkers relatives in Rhode Island and having them tell us that we HAD to go to NYC, we switched our flight plans and hopped on a bus down there. we were only a day and a half but it was worth the extra trip.Oh the statue of liberty. Someday when we have more time I want to go up it. Ellis Island too... Recommeded stop: Magnolia bakery in greenwhich village for the most delicious banana pudding. I have to figure out how they made this. the building snuck right up on us. It was so awesome to see the temple right there in the midst of the hustle and bustle of manhattan. New york was so fun. Since we were only there for a day and a half, we bought a tour bus pass to see the whole city. They go around the whole island, north and south, so you get a chance to see all the sights and you can hop on and off as you wish. It also included the cruise around the statue of liberty and a museum pass. Great purchase. We ate the best food there too... Great italian place on 9th ave, sushi of course, and delicious NY subs. We want to go back when we have more time!
